Netflix Uses Piracy Data to Select Its Programs
Netflix chooses its programming based on what shows and movies are popular on piracy sites, Netflix’s Vice President of Content Acquisition, Kelly Merryman, told Tweakers. Netflix looks at what people are downloading and then buys the rights to the titles in highest demand.
According to TorrentFreak, Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings, suggests that offering people what they want will sway them to use Netflix instead of BitTorrent as their source of entertainment. The idea may not be far-fetched, since BitTorrent traffic in Canada dropped 50% after Netflix appeared three years ago.
Via TorrentFreak:

“Netflix is so much easier than torrenting. You don’t have to deal with files, you don’t have to download them and move them around. You just click and watch,” Hastings says.

THIS. THIS IS HOW YOU BATTLE PIRACY, MEDIA MOGULS TAKE NOTE.

good work!

This makes all the sense

lol I wonder if that’s why they now have a rack of Korean Dramas…

well…I do usually check Netflix before I dl something.

I just checked Pirate Bay for Stargate, and after seeing the amount of seeders and leeches, I now know why it fell of their streaming list. I need you people to fix that, as soon as possible.

Grant Morrison - Disinfo.Con Lecture - Magick

One of my favorite parts of this video, is that it made Grant’s voice loud and clear in my mind, every time I read him. He is so damn distinctive.

I love this. He talks about magic, writing Invisibles, taking drugs and going to Kathmandu, in order to be kidnapped by aliens. He goes on about going to the 5th Dimension, and learning that the universe is a living being, in its infancy.

You should watch it.
